I have since received mine and love it.
BTW, one of the complaints in the review is about the pan lock knob -
mine came with a differently shaped one, more like a cam or teardrop
which I really like. Evidently A-S got wise and changed it The new
one is kind of a cross between a knob and a lever, and enables a
one-finger flip or pull motion to lock/unlock the pan.
And as you'll see, the comparison is with the BH-55 not the 40. Also,
this review states that the Z1 replaces the B1, a statement that was
contended over at Fred Miranda. I do notice that only the B1 with
1/4-20 is available at B&H now. I don't know what that is indicative
of.
