The DJ130 is definitely dye. I stand corrected on the ink-type for
the 1280, which is dye. Many apologies to the list!
I switched to an aftermarket pigment on the 1280 before I gave up on
it, which was equally bad.

I had an Epson 1280 that was a major clog-monster. I've got an Epson
R200 that is even worse.
My HP DJ130 gets up and prints every time, even after long dormancy.
I don't think this is a
HP vs Epson thing - more of an dye vs. pigment thing.

Bob--Are you saying that the HP DJ130 uses pigment inks, and that
those
don't clog? The 1280's native inks are dye-based (and btw, my
1280's a
clogmonster too).
On a related note, I decided to switch mine over to the Pantone
inks which
_are_ pigment based, and the colorimetry went straight to hell.
Everything's green, green, green, GREEN!! Still trying to figure
out if
there are profiles I can rip out and get back to a semblance of
sanity, or
whether the Panones on my printer are simply a lost cause.
[Pantone requires you to be a priest of printer tech on Windoze to
figure
out what profiles to use. Make that a Zen Bhuddist priest to have the
patience to download each and every profile they offer.]
