Sad to say, the film industry is fading. Kodak is a
business, and it exists to turn a profit. It's not
going to continue to produce un-profitable products
for very long. As someone else here said, he only
shoots a few sheets, and about 5 rolls a year. Most
people don't shoot any. Kodak can't go on running a
production process for such small volumes.

And it's not just the specialty market that's dying,
either. I've got a friend who worked at what was the
largest independent photo-finisher in the U.S. until
Kodak sold off it's labs. She worked there for over 30
years, and was #3 in their QC department. She got laid
off last year. Their volume has dropped so
precipitously they've gone from a 3 shift operation 10
years ago to a 1 shift operation now.
