A similar thing happened when the new 24-105/F4 lens came out and there was a problem with the lens. All of a sudden, the supply was gone until a fix came out. If indeed the Autofocus issues people are reporting are true, there may be some delay until a fix is out.
Clearly the new 1DmkIII is a fast machine and may bring up some servo stability issues with various lenses. I have not heard if the auto-focus issue is related to specific lenses or with all lenses? Hopefully it is a firmware fix. The easy fix might be to slow things down, but then the advertised performance is not there. It may also be an issue with IS lenses, or some such weird interaction. Bright light causes more internal reflections that may also be the issue. It is hard to know for sure. The Rob Galbraith site mentions these lenses being used for most tests: EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS EF 300mm f/2.8L IS EF 500mm f/4L IS WayneS At 12:02 PM 6/22/2007, you wrote: >Hello all, > >I am ready to tackle the new 1D body but my suppliers are saying they don't >have any at this time.
