Subject: Re: EOS 1Ds Mark III Focus Problems?

On 08/01/08, Skip, discombobulated, unleashed:

Check Rob Galbraith's website, he's not convinced that the problems are
totally solved. He's one of the ones who first documented the original
problem, and worked with Canon to find, identify and solve it.
I, too, was ready to buy the 1D mkIII, until I heard about the problems.
Then I was ready to do so again, having heard that the problems were
"solved." I'm hanging onto my money, now, until the 1D mkIIIn comes out...

Hi Skip,

Thanks for the info - although I was asking about the 1Ds mark III in
relation to the 1D mark III. EG: the 1D mark III has known focus issues
that have affected a lot of examples - .....*so* does the 1Ds mark III
(the 36X24 sensor camera) also have any issues? Do they share the same
focus system? If so, are the 1Ds cameras also prone to focus problems,
or is it just a 1D issue?

HTH

TIA

While they share a focus system, it seems to be a hardware issue, with the submirror box being the culprit. With the differing sensor sizes, I wonder if they share a box?
