We are looking to some major server support on currently Centos 6 cloud
images.

Problem is for other distros, hipl has moved on to libnetfilter_queue
which is not supported in Centos 6. See:

Given that getting things into Centos without them being in RHEL is hard, it was suggested that I turn to EPEL for inclusion. BTW, I am told this is included in RHEL 7, as it has been in Fedora since at least F17.

Please advise.

At this stage I would concentrate on testing your software on the RHEL 7 release candidate, freely available at http://ftp.redhat.com/redhat/rhel/rc/7/ . If it works on RHEL 7 rc, it will also work on CentOS 7. RHEL 7's release isn't too far away, and CentOS 7 will be released shortly after.

If you prefer to support CentOS 6.x as well, then getting the packages into EPEL might indeed be an option.

The cloud center is Centos 6.3! But we are able to build our images and update them to 6.5. Or so the developer I work with has said. It is unlikely that they will roll out Centos 7 in step with its release.
