Hello,
I'm a Fedora packager (though a very new one). I'd like my package, which is
already in Fedora, to appear in EPEL. So, I read:
https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/epel/epel-package-request/
It says:
"If you are already a Fedora contributor, for your own package use the standard
procedures for requesting a new branch using fedpkg request-branch."
So, I did that and now I have:
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/ocaml-camlpdf/diff/rawhide..epel10
(I note that I don't seem to have addressed the part about choosing minor
versions for EPEL10, for example.)
So, what do I do now? Do I file a branch-and-build request on Bugzilla but
simply say I have already branched and build it? Or do I progress this myself.
And, if so, how?
If you've performed a successful build, the last step is to create a Bodhi
update to get the build pushed into EPEL. You can either do that with `fedpkg
update` or with the Bodhi web interface: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/
Thanks Scott! It's done - for EPEL10:
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-EPEL-2025-d433be7bff
For EPEL8/9 I have another problem. The ocaml-rpm-macros package - which is
required to make the koji (and therefore bohdi) build work - isn't available in
EPEL8 or EPEL9.
I'd like to ask for it to be branched and built. However, the ocaml-rpm-macros component doesn't
show up in the component list on the bugtracker using either "Fedora EPEL" or
"Fedora" products - so I can't follow the EPEL package request mechanism the URL above
asks me to. And yet it's seemingly available in EPEL10, because the koji build succeeds. Is that
because it's some sort of internal package related only to RPMs? How can I ask for it to be added
to EPEL8/9?
It appears that the ocaml-rpm-macros packages is built from the ocaml
source package, so you'd need to file a package request against the ocaml
package.
