-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fedora EPEL Update Notification FEDORA-EPEL-2021-5848dcbea8 2021-09-27 01:39:43.836931 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name : gcc-epel Product : Fedora EPEL 8 Version : 8.4.1 Release : 3.el8 URL : http://gcc.gnu.org Summary : Various compilers (C, C++, Objective-C, ...) Description : The gcc package contains the GNU Compiler Collection version 8. You'll need this package in order to compile C code. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update Information: Transformation of the GNU Compiler Collection from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 (gcc-8.4.1-1.el8) into gcc-epel to achieve the missing RPM packages for Ada/GNAT, GCC JIT, Go, Objective-C and Objective-C++ that Red Hat decided to remove (see: [Considerations in adopting RHEL 8](https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en- us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/8/html/considerations_in_adopting_rhel_8/compilers- and-development-tools_considerations-in-adopting-rhel-8), and this also won't change as per [bug #1826731](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1826731)). Important: Please use `gnatgcc`, `gobjc` or `gobjc++` rather than `gcc` for a GCC with Ada/GNAT, Objective-C or Objective-C++ support because `gcc` is unfortunately not really modular and was also built without support for these programming languages by Red Hat (or a vendor of a 100% bug-for-bug compatible drop-in distribution). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ChangeLog: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- References: [ 1 ] Bug #1983416 - Review Request: gcc-epel - Various compilers (C, C++, Objective-C, ...) https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1983416 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This update can be installed with the "yum" update programs.
