Peter:

this actually works, there is just a small snag which that when I add the
RACI category to the work product it automatically adds back the work
product to the category so in the preview I see both the RACI link and a
link back to the work product which is a bit confusing, but at least I get
the roles linked back to the work product, which was my goal.
