Hello Everyone and especially to those interested in EPF outreach
With the recession being called off, life has been busy and has left
me with little time to think about EPF outreach. A few of you have
enthusiastically offered to volunteer to help in this effort and I
do not want to leave you languishing. Hopefully in the next two
weeks I will be able to get a few issues into Bugzilla so we can
start making some real progress. In the meantime here are a few
things you may want to think about.
1) We need a EPF website outside of eclipse. Eclipses has a rather
disciplined process for placing material in its archives and for
what may be placed on the Eclipse site (as it should be given what
Eclipse is about). We need something that is a bit more user
friendly and community supportive. We need a place where we can have
forums, people can post articles (semi-moderated) and trade plug-
ins. So what we need here is someone or group of someones to
volunteer to create this website. We need a place to store the bits
( I may be able to help on that).
2) A few of us have created a one day intro to OpenUP course.
However we need more in-depth course material, for example project
management with OpenUP.
3) While there are a few tutorials about how to use Composer, I
think we need more example. This does not have to be just
powerpoint, how about webinars? Video? Be imaginative. Something
that could well boost EPF is using imaginitive techniques for
outreach.
4) We need case studies
5) And all of the above should be in available in multiple languages.
Let me know if this interests you, or if you have ideas for other
work.
best regards,
Steve Adolph
