.html. Actually, even better is to link against "" (i.e., only the part *before* the ".html"). Apache's content negotiation handles the rest. That prolongs the lives of URLs, hides implementation details, and makes the address bar less messy. If GNOME's servers don't enable it by default, you need to put "Option MultiViews On" in the .htaccess.
