New question #243626 on Epoptes:
https://answers.launchpad.net/epoptes/+question/243626

hi,

I have 2 PC's in a test rig. Both are running EDUBUNTU 12.04. There is no LTSP
involved. Just a simple test with 2 standalone PC's. 1 client. 1 server. Boht
PC's have been installed from the std EDUBUNTU distro 12.04

I have been able to ascertain that the "client" downloads the cert OK (ran
epoptes-client -c as root. Got a "successfully fetched certificate from
server:789" result)
using PS axu|grep epoptes returns a PID against the user that is logging into
the client that ID's epoptes.

I can ping the server from the client and vica versa. I can telnet to the
server from the client using 'telnet server 789' and a connection is opened. I
can run epoptes from the command line and the 'client connecting to
server:789....done....

>From this I am assuming the client is running OK.

Whilst all this goodness is occuring, I am not having the same sucessess on the
"server" side.

I open the GUI (all good so far. group membership is working), login into the
client. launch the client. Nothing. the "client" is not showing in the GUI. I
have tried launching the client manulally and via the std startup application
mechansim in Ubuntu which runs on lgin. Neither seems to trigger the client to
sho in the server GUI

Why can't I see the client? what do I need to do to ascertain the server is
actually running and accepting connections (which from the client side testing
it seems it is)

regards,

anthony
