I found that there is maybe a problem, if you do not have or never had
an installation of VC++ 2005 or VS2005 on your computer and would like
to use the EQ w32 binaries. All the EQ programs provided with the EQ 0.6
release binaries (ie eqServer.exe, eqPly.exe) crashed on my clean
installation with not a lot more than VS2008 and winXP. On a complete
other workstation I tried the same with nothing but a clean Vista
installation and got the same error.

After some "googleation" with the win32 hex-error-code (0xc0150002) I
found a post, where someone got a similar situation with a complete
other program (apache). After the installation of this

update, things worked well again.

summary:
I really don't know how general this issue is, but it seams that if you
never had a copy of VS2005 on your computer, the actual EQ release
binaries crash until you install the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005
Redistributable Package (x86)" with the link above.

Did someone have some similar issues?
