As is often the case, my initial assessment of this issue was incorrect. In fact, the events being added to the queue were using the osg timer instead of the config clock used to set frame stamps, leading to the erratic behavior. Clock precision is not a problem, the related manipulators now work as expected...

That is now fixed, as are a number of other issues.  Please reference the 
attached for the latest implementation.
