I am new to MetaStock, so I know almost nothing.

I have been trying to load Yahoo data as well. Files ending in .csv were
not being recognized.

I renamed the files to .txt and now I can point the
downloader>tools>convert... at them and they load quite nicely.

I did write my own python script to massage the data a little ( I added the
",d," peridicity to each line). I am not ready to share these scripts at
this time.

If you google "jarloo" you'll find some C# code to do the same thing.

Best of luck with this.

Ed

I normally convert as follows:

1. Download the Yahoo csv data.
2. Open the csv file in Excel to split into columns.
3. Sort date descending.
4. Copy all the data and paste into Yahoo CSV Data.xlsx spreadsheet. I have
uploaded the Excel file to this group's Files section.
5. Copy the data that is combined into one cell and paste into a text file.
6. I use MsCmdLineUtils to convert the text file into MetaStock. See
http://www.oocities.org/mimansoor/MsCmdLineUtils.html. For support see
http://groups.google.com/group/metastockcmdlineutils/

Fortunately I don't need to do this often..

Regards

Stuart
