List,
I am in a shared hangar, and there has been a "c"
model in the corner for the last 4 years. It has never flown since I've in
there, and the last annual was 2 years ago. My question is what should I look
for in evaluating it for a project?. My thought process is as
follows:
1. Check for compliance on know AD's especially
corrosion.
2. Check C-85 for current status possible rebuild.
3. Plan on replacing current radio with a more
modern nav/radio combo.
4. Have a thorough pre-buy inspection done.
This plane is a "C" model, a 1947 model I think. It
has rudder pedals and all metal wings. The body seems to be in pretty neat
shape, but new paint would be in order. But to me the cosmetics are not as
important as the mechanical issues, as those are the ones that can hurt you. Any
other items to look for when looking at older aircraft like this one?. What's a
typical cost to rebuild the C-85?
Thanks for the help and input.
Andrew
