Hi Garrad (WRB speaking),

Per Ercoupe Information Letter No. 3:

With 75 h.p., McCauley 7351 prop and at 1260 lbs., calm winds:

At Sea Level, Normal Maximum: 109 m.p.h., 2275 r.p.m., 5.6 g.p.h., 19.5 m.p.g.
Mixture Rich Conservative Cruise: 105 m.p.h. 2175 r.p.m., 5.1 g.p.h., 20.6 m.p.g.
Maximum Range 80 m.p.h. 1825 r.p.m., 3.4 g.p.h., 28.1 m.p.g.

At 5000' Alt., Normal Maximum: 107 m.p.h., 2275 r.p.m., 4.5 g.p.h., 23.8 m.p.g.
Mixture Lean Conservative Cruise: 102 m.p.h. 2175 r.p.m., 4.2 g.p.h., 24.3 m.p.g.
Maximum Range 85 m.p.h. 1925 r.p.m., 3.1 g.p.h., 27.2 m.p.g.

If one were comfortable flying day VFR with a 1/2 hr. fuel reserve and 23.6 gal. (measured)
usable fuel at 5000' and Conservative cruise, that would be 23.6 - 2.1 = 21.5 gallons which
would take you (21.5 x 24.3) 522.45 miles in 4 hours and 53 minutes (how's your bladder?)!

Given the same r.p.m. at 10,000' you would do significantly better. This is why those who
seek the best Ercoupe performance fly as far above the rocks as conditions of flight favor,
and why no knowledgeable owner would tolerate a disabled (wired) carb. mixture control.

The G Model (85 h.p.) and a McCauley 7150 prop at 1400 lbs. (rest same) and Conservative Cruise
of 2325 r.p.m. will take you a bit less far in a bit less time (511.7 miles in 4 hours and 47 minutes).

If you know your usable fuel, track fuel consumption the way you fly your plane and engine
combination, and have (and know how to use) charts and a GPS, you should know precisely
when and where to fuel on cross country fights (even when detouring around thunderstorms).

Out of curiosity....what is the general range of the C-75? I figured about 400 miles (no winds, obviously) or about 4 hours...is that a good guestimate???
