Richard;
You can try to repair it yourself, it's not rocket science.  Parts are available.  Most times they get gunked up from oil and grease.  I'd first try to disassemble and clean all the gears, checking the bushings while you're there.  If it turns out to be the motor howling, you can also find those bearings.  Check with a local power tool repair shop if disassembling the motor seems a bit more than your skill can handle, they work with those things all the time.  And remember this.  Digital pictures, digital pictures, digital pictures!

Flashers are nice, weigh less, pull less amperage and cost less.  You can Ebay your rotator and pick up $50 to $100 even in the noisy condition.

Coupers, I have a noisy rotating beacon light on my coupe. Does anyone have any expertise on a good affordable replacement, or should I remove and repair. Is there a good self contained flasher legal as a direct replacement. Richard Logston N3041H
