I got in my required night cross country last Tuesday. Now I just need
another dual and my solo work. Of course, I will have to train in a
C150 for short/soft field stuff and under the hood. I also need to
practice ground reference maneuvers and regular landings, too. I will
work out all the weight and balance stuff, become familiar with all the
operating limitations, etc. Then it will be check ride time. I'm
shooting for not later than mid June.

The night cross country pretty much confirmed what I had already
assumed - night flying is not for me. Perhaps with practice I could
deal with it, but I'm not comfortable at night, and my night vision
isn't the best. So I'm gonna be a daytime kind of guy.

I did 7 landings at Belleville, IL, which handles a lot of military
traffic for Scott Air Force Base. I did stop and go landings on their
10,000 foot long, 150 foot wide runway. Funniest part of the evening
was watch a KC-135 tanker wait for me as I landed and taxied by in the
Ercoupe. Then I did a landing at Festus, MO, where they had a
self-service fuel pump, then two more at my home base in St. Clair, MO.

Total time in the air was 3.2 hours. A long night! I got home about
1:30 am.

I'm determined to get this thing wrapped in the next 30 days - let's
see!

Thanks for all the kind words when I soloed!
