This can also be taken as a cautionary tale. Once a person was working on
his Cessna 182. It had been worked on over a long time. When he tried to
start it, it did. It was not tied down. The operator (note: not pilot,
for
they don't do this) did not have the plane tied down, and panicked to the
extent that he forgot to turn off the mags.
The plane tore into a hangar and destroyed planes, tools, etc. It was a
manufacturers hangar.
The owner of the plane did not have insurance; it was being worked on and
not flying. My friend was in charge of the manufacturing concern. The
business Dang Near Died because of the damage and no money to cover. Even
though my friend was replaced (there were other issues), the company had a
very rough go because of the damage.
I seem to recall seeing this photo before, and believe it was a run away
situation.
