Now, as to "WWII US ARMY AIR CORPS colors complete with the meatball..."
Do
you mean the Olive Drab? Or the training blue with yellow wings? And for
the younger set, is "the meatball" the red dot that was in the middle of
the
star in the early 1940's (swapped out because some mistook it for
Japanese,
others for British)? War birdie paint jobs are popular, so be specific.

I was recently interviewed by Meg Godlewski from General Aviation
News and Flyer, and today she sent the following email to me:
"I don't suppose you could help me track down a very special Ercoupe,
could you? It was used in a 1965 episode of Hogan's Heroes called
"Flight of the Valkyrie". The heroes fly it out of camp. It's supposed
to be a captured fighter. I have the DVD of that episode and have frozen
the program to see if I can get a tail number but have not been able to!
It would have been a Ercoupe in southern California circa 1965. It was
painted WWII US ARMY AIR CORPS colors complete with the meatball for the
show and they gave it nose art of a Valkyrie. If you could put the word
out among the Ercoupers I'd like to find out what happened to the
airplane."
I know we've discussed this a few years ago, but maybe someone new on
the list would have a clue about the plane. Thanks in advance,
