Subject: [COUPERS-FLYIN] small airports terrorist targets

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----

Dear CBS,

Where do we stop with this crap?  Next, will we be securing truckstops against terrorists, since of course, a terrorist could get into a semi loaded with ANFO and drive it into ___________________ (your favorite target here).

THIS IS AMERICA.  I will NOT give up my FREEDOM for the sake of ABSOLUTE SECURITY.  Yes, it is possible a terrorist will fly a small plane into a target.  If that happens, well, it happens.  *&^% happens.

When there is credible reason to believe that  10,000 terrorists will fly 10,000 planes into 10,000 targets all at once, then maybe we have an issue.  Meanwhile, nothing more than JOURNALISTS trying to make the POPULACE terrified, over NOTHING.

By the way, I am not some nit-wit. I am a Sergeant with the Airport Police, I live with, enforce, study and practice Airport Security every day.  However, trying to make little airports 'safe' like our 'safe' big airports, is akin to saying we have to put armor plating on every vehicle in America so it will be 'safe'.  Who is going to pay for it?  Who is it going to protect?  What terrorist cannot go into a small airport, innocuously fly an empty plane to a desert landing strip (i.e. a 800' long patch of straight road will do), THEN load it with ANFO and go blow something up.

How well does your 'security' work in that scenario????

Better, let's ground every damn plane in America.  THEN WE'LL BE 'SAFE'.

HOGWASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bull.
