Nosegear shimmy is mostly caused by loose or worn scissor links.
Tighten the bolts is helping some, overhauling the bushings due from time to time.
Too low or too high tire pressure is making the problem even worse.
Pressure should be between 17 and 20 lbs.
Of course worn bearings and tires are also contributing to the problem. But I would check the scissor links first.

I did up one in Excel for my Ercoupe but it is on my work computer.  When I go back to work on Saturday, I'll email it out to the group.

Egads, guys and gals!  Some of our list members MUST have great checklists they could type in to a message and share.  I’d supply mine but it went with my plane when I sold it.

Who can help?

I am a new Ercoupe Aviator. I'm in a small group that flies N3868H. She belongs to the Western North Carolina Air Museum in Hendersonville, NC. By the way, we extend an invitation to all to stop by and admire our collection of vintage aircraft. Info is available at www.wncairmuseum.com. I have searched the various websites I could find on the Ercoupe, for a Pre Flight Checklist with no success. Ours is the 415 CD, now with a Continental C-85. Do any of you have one or know where I can retrieve one from on the web? I appreciate the help.
By the way, my check ride instructor has had an Ercoupe in his family for 56 years. Guess he must like it.  ;-)
