An unfortunate day for pilots and Ercoupes today. Bob Sukiennicki is reported to have died, along with his wife, in a crash taking off from Cameron Park. Witnesses say the engine was sputtering and the plane crashed in the hills nearby the airport. Little more information available at this time. I met Bob a couple of times at Ercoupe flyin events in N. California. He had another plane, which type I forget, that was being repaired, and bought his Coupe to have something to fly in the meantime. Foreign-born, he always seemed like a gentleman and a scholar. He arranged for Coupers to fly in to a car show at Cameron Park last Fall, with he and his wife providing lunch. Though I didn't know him well, I'll miss him and his Ercoupe.
