Stephen, I've had the same thought. N99387 has the 'nifty' quadrant controls for throttle and trim. I don't like quadrant controls in single engine Pipers, and I don't like them here. I was much happier with the vernier throttle on N2906H (some people loath vernier throttles, too, but on a Stromberg carb they are great). The vernier was great on landing...just close the 'tap' gradually. I liked the side-wall trim better...the extra linkage from the quadrant just puts more 'slop' in the system. What I'd really like is to rip that quadrant out and replace it with a plate containing three verniers...throttle, mixture, and trim. I think it was the Myers 400 that had a vernier plunger for trim. Very nice.
