I replaced the old style quadrants on my coupe a few years ago.
I went with ACS controls for the throttle and mixture...they work very
well.
I also replaced the trim quadrant with the older style trim on the side
wall.

It was a slightly easier procedure for me since I am operating on the
Canadian owner maintenance rules, but I know the chance would not have
been a difficult one even under full certification rules in Canada.

The only issue is that they might have made me go with a certified
vernier control similar to the ones made for replacement of the Cessna
units.

For the record I hated the trim on the quadrant as it seem to have no
range. I also know from my recent engine rebuild that the way the throttle
is installed in the coupe leaves you with a short throw of the carb arm.
That
is where the vernier really comes in handy giving you more control.
