Hi Ken,
In order to convert a 415-C to a 415-D you must replace the aluminum boot cowl skin that covers the nose fuel tank with a stainless steel skin (no easy job), limit the elevator up travel to 9 degrees, and, on some serial number Coupes, change the orifice of the main landing gear, plus the paperwork.  This will give the Coupe a 1400 lb. gross weight.  It is all laid out in one of the service bulletins.  I don't have my service bulletin book at home, but I'm sure Bill Bayne or Harry Francis can give you the bulletin number.

Ken, he needs to determine which baggage compartment that he has
(Skyport 9 cu. ft., etc.) get the appropriate paperwork, and have his A
& P do a 337 and logbook entry for it. Then he will be legal.
