You said it, Gaylon! Opal got me into the Ercoupe, and I can't thank him
enough.
I had been "between airplanes" for five years when my employer shipped
me to Roswell. My wife heard of Opal and contacted him. He told her of
the "Used Ercoupe Lot" in Tucumcari. We went up there one weekend
and crawled in and out of ten `coupes. Selected 29H because there were
no radios under the inst. panel and because it looked the best. Still
flying
and enjoying it!
I had the honor of returning to Roswell and riding with Opal to the
2001
Ercoupe Owners Club annual meeting in Terrell, Texas. Put about 6 hrs.
in each direction on 99762. Opal won Oldest Pilot Flying In. Since he
probably won't make Florida this year, all us old geezers have a chance.
