Granted Syd, and then some. Ready access to the original technical drawings will make that a bit easier I hope, and you can gurantee that new parts are made to the original specs. It's hard to contradict black and white. Even for the FAA. I understand that, in theory, the owner of the plane can also have a part made by another party (with or without direct supervision) so long as the owner provides complete specifications and tolerances for the part and ensures appropriate quality control, IE inspects the part himself prior to use. Everything has to be documented, inspected, and signed off in the logs of course. If I'm wrong about any of that, please let me know so I don't confuse myself or anyone else here. I'm still searching the CFR's for the exact wordings on "owner equivalent" work, I know they're in there somewhere. Chris Trent http://chris.trent.net BTW, I'm approaching the halfway point on the scanning. Things are not so simple out there in FAA-land.
