Hi Gang!

Just want to send an "official" THANK YOU to Syd. Dan Hall and Ralph Finch for
allowing this Couper to pitch a tent in "Aircoupe Alley" from Monday thru Friday.

I also wish to thank the anonymous good samaritan who came by and 1) closed up
Dan's "airing-out" coupe just before a deluge and 2) was later seen chamoising-off
the same coupe. He swore me to secrecy. About his name. Just a fellow coupe
lover.

I thought about all you guys on your ways home as I spent 5 hours delayed at Appleton
airport Friday afternoon and ANOTHER 5 hours being yanked around from cancelled
flight to cancelled flight at United (Chicago).

If I make it at all next year it will be in a REAL airplane, N5474F.

Dotty

Hi Candy,
Yes, the lightning at Oshkosh was almost as exciting as the airshows, and almost as often.  I didn't know that Leslie was there.  Maybe next year I'll put a guest book next to my plane so I know who stopped by.
As Dennis mentioned, Dave Tulas from Lawrenceville, GA won the Outstanding Ercoupe Award.  Congratulations, Dave.  There were nine Ercoupes in the flight from Burlington to Oshkosh, the most we've had in years.  It looked great.  We all parked in Ercoupe Alley, row 77.  I'll write a complete story and put it in Coupe Capers.  I'm looking forward to next year's Oshkosh.
By the way, I mentioned to Bob Warner, Executive Vice President of EAA about my First Flight Day, and he said he thought it was a great idea, one that EAA should promote.  This year we should send letters to city officials offering them a ride on the 100th anniversary of the first flight.

hi Syd, Charlie

sorry we couldn't touch base with you though we did fog up your
airplane a little, Syd, drooling on it ...

hope mine looks half as good when we get it done

we were pretty well locked to the Forum Hosts table this year,
being upgraded to chairmen ... great OSH, great volunteers,
great lightning and thunderstorms ...

did get to talk to denmom (Leslie) for a bit ...

Candy

Nice to meet you too, Charlie. Great pictures. By the way, we got my
broken exhaust stack replaced and had no other problems.

Syd
