I just got this from another mailing list I belong to. It looks like a bad week for Ercoupes. Cheers: Paul NC2273H Subject: [pnwflying] Washington Reg. Aircoupe missing in Canada Hi Just received this from Canadian Press & thought that it would be of interest . STORY Air and sea search underway for small U.S. plane missing off B.C. north coast canada.com Monday, August 18, 2003 VICTORIA (CP) - A search was underway Monday for a small, single-engine U.S. aircraft that disappeared in bad weather off British Columbia's north coast. The Aircoupe with a man and woman on board had left Port Hardy, on the northern end of Vancouver Island, Sunday bound for Alaska, said Wayne Bamford of the rescue co-ordination centre in Victoria. It was reported overdue around 6 p.m. "Search was commenced last evening with negative results," he said. "Currently we have three aircraft and four coast guard vessels search a rather larger search area." The plane's last known position was just south of Bella Bella but it then went beyond radar coverage. "Basically it could have either done a forced landing or crashed anywhere from that point on up to Alaska," said Bamford. "So it's several hundred miles that we're searching." The aircraft is registered in Washington state but Bamford did not know which community it came from. Weather conditions were poor for flying Sunday and remained bad Monday, he said. © Copyright 2003 Canadian Press -- If you want to share pictures, use the calendar, or start a vote visit http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/pnwflying To leave the Group, email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ========================================================================== ==== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm Search the archives on http://escribe.com/aviation/coupers/
