Harry,
These
viruses look through a computer and find everything that looks like an e-mail
address. Then they generate
messages with from lines and subject lines. Some of these come from the e-mails they find and some come
from lists of sucker-bait contained in the virus.
Because of
this, you might receive a message from a “lawyer” demanding a response or from
a webmaster with an offer or anything the “clever” writer thinks might sucker
you.
Another
favorite trick is to send a message back to someone using the same subject line
as the message found in the first victim’s e-mail files. At least one “clever” virus will send along
a document that it finds on the first victim’s computer along with a copy of
itself – this tempts you and breaks security on the first computer.
This is
where I invoke the 3-lifetime rule.
When the virus writer has used up 3 human lifetimes worth of effort,
they have forfeited their right to life.
(Multiples of 3-lifetimes of effort may earn the virus writer matching
months of torture before the execution.)

Subject: Source of virus ...lawyer
?
Hi Ed,
I haven't seen coupers e-mail addresses listed, but I have seen several
references to Lawyers...... suggesting that the virus may be passed on by a law
firm....
I keep getting Mailer Daemon notices, about mail I sent.... while my name has
to be spoofed from someone's address book. A lawyer, couper, or many
ofher contacts throughout the owrld !!!!
We will probably never know!
I just hope they run out of addresses using my name !
Harry
