Yes, I know about that. I had seen a segment on 20/20
or one of those news shows about the Hawaiians' taste
for Spam. Apparently even high end restaurants have
dishes made with Spam on their menu. I found the TV
segment hard to believe so I asked a fellow
student/friend who is Hawaiian. He told me that it is
absolutely true. In fact, he told me a funny story
about when he first came to the mainland.
He was living in the dorms at school. His family was
sending him care packages of Spam from Hawaii. They
were worrried that he might not be able to buy it
here. My friend's dorm mates felt very sorry for him,
thinking he was very poor, and they were always trying
to feed him.
