Hartmut, That's a good one. Dramatic hijack of a Piper Cherokee. :-) Seriously, you made some very good points. I think that among the general public there always has been a certain nervousness and numerous misconceptions about small airplanes and those who fly them. Unfortunately 9/11 inflated this bias to near hysteria. I'd like to add to a point that everyone here knows of course but others seem to be oblivious to. It is so very easy to rent or steal a car, truck, van. For that matter just about anyone who has enough brain synapses functioning to put three words together can get a LEGAL driver's license. It is soooo much more difficult to obtain a pilot's license. I wish that journalists would be professional and ethical enough to do some decent research before they start spewing words that have the power to whip an already jumpy population into a frenzy.
