SUN 'N FUN, FSAACA HOST FLY-IN DEC. 6
(Sun 'n Fun Complex, Lakeland, Fla.) - Nov. 24, 2003 - Sun 'n Fun, in conjunction with the Florida Sport Antique and Classic Association (FSAACA), will host a Vintage Aircraft Fly-In on Saturday, Dec. 6.
Activities get underway with a pancake breakfast early Saturday morning and, later, a hot dog lunch provided at minimal cost by EAA Chapter 454. A door prize drawing will he held at 1200 noon for all pilots who fly in. Owners of vintage aircraft, many of which fall into one of three categories (Antique, Classic or Contemporary) will fly into Lakeland to showcase their beautiful and oftentimes historically significant airplanes for other pilots, owners and enthusiasts. The general public is invited and encouraged to attend.
"The Vintage Fly-In is another example of the expanding number and variety of activities Sun 'n Fun is offering on a year-round basis," said Sun 'n Fun Vice President and Museum Director Greg Harbaugh. "We're looking forward to seeing some rare and historic aircraft as well as welcoming participating pilots and aircraft, many of whom are already familiar with Sun 'n Fun through their past attendance at our annual Fly-In." Several of Sun 'n Fun's own vintage aircraft will also be on display, such as the 1933 Taylorcraft E-2 originally owned by Mr. Tom Davis, founder of Piedmont Airlines.
In addition to walking among the aircraft, talking with pilots and seeing a "living history" of aviation colorful history, there will also be drawings for raffle prizes.
