1. Weather disappointment
In my 4 months flying In North Texas, I have
become spoiled because it's been rare to cancel flying due to weather. I was
looking forward to this Thanksgiving weekend to fly at least 3 days, log like 6
hours, doing maneuvers, a dual cross country and my first solo cross country.
I spent Thanksgiving day at home thinking: I've got
Friday, Saturday and Sunday to fly....
Well, Friday, the ceiling was low (2000) so my CFI
cancelled our maneuver training. He allowed me to practice solo in the pattern,
so I logged 1.3 hours.
Saturday was ugly IFR in the morning and by the
time it cleared in the afternoon, I already had committed to take my wife out to
mid afternoon lunch/dinner.
Sunday was beautiful, but we got a wind advisory.
At the worst the wind was completely crosswind to my runway, 30 knots
gusting to 40!!!!
Oh, man.....
2. Brain collateral effect of flying.
I saw the movie Pearl Harbor before I started
flying. So yesterday I was at this electronics store and stop by this beautiful
TV and they happen to be showing Pearl Harbor, the scene where Doolittle is
trying to lift off the B-25 for the first time from that short aircraft
carrier deck. Stopped to watch, and felt like a chill, and got
goosebumps!!
Is this what flying does to one's
brain??!!!!
3. Terrell?????!!!!
That's my backyard!!!! Yesss!!! I already plotted
my flight course from Springtown!
