Hey Lee: Most likely, you have a small leak through the carburetor, and the
fuel evaporates, so the header tank goes down somewhat. However, due to the
shape of the header tank, when the float goes down the first 3/4 inch, you have
only lost about 1/2 gallon. When the header tank float gauge shows empty, you
have approximately 3 gallons left in the tank.
