As I also use my Coupe for training disabled people, I suggest you and
Jessica contact the International Wheelchair Aviators. There is a wealth
of information in their website http://www.wheelchairaviators.org/history.html

She is a very motivated young lady, recently graduated from U.of Arizona, and now does motivational speaking. I took her flying in my wife's Forney a couple of weeks ago and all I can say is she is a natural. She is very smooth at the controls. We did turns, climbs, descent, and approaches but she could not make a landing or takeoff because of being unable to operate the yoke, pedals and throttle at the same time.. Jessica was born without arms or hands. She has a web site www.rightfooted.com.I have talked with Jessica a lot about this and am convinced she will become a pilot someday. For now she will train in our Forney but we need a no pedal ercoupe. We will be trying to find one near Tucson. She could fly to see how it would work without modifications. My plan is to install foot controls for most everything. The yoke would be moved to the floor, right foot, for more comfort on long flights.Left foot would control brake, throttle, mixture if installed, and other items like a starter button also . Avionics will have to be digital, push button.FAA so far is ok. I have done modifications like this before so we have only one major challenge. Cost.Myself, the local DER, and others will donate all time and what material we have. We will try to raise funds and should be able to do this soon. If I find an Ercoupe that is the right price and condition I might be able to make the purchase and hope the donations will come in later. The major modifications will come as we discover Jessica's abilities. I think she will be able to solo in a standard ercoupe. We need the following.1. Aircraft with a good spar, center section, no pedals. Parts to remove pedals in our Forney.2. Avionics not required.3. Starter, electrical system a must4. Something we can get flying for low cost. All we have to pay for is parts, Fabric worn is ok as I will replace during modifications. Metal wings ok.5. I guess I should say let me know what you have. We can fly most places in the west to inspect, anything east of Texas or north of good weather. I need someone to help check out the aircraft.\I will be around DFW, Springtown Texas, 26 thru 31 Dec and can maybe look at something that might be useful. If anyone knows of someone ever doing a similar modification please notify me. All help is appreciatedJohnny Thompson============================================================================== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm Search the archives on http://escribe.com/aviation/coupers/
