Hey Graywolf:The tax in Florida only applies to you after you become a Florida resident. When I moved to Florida approximately 10 years ago, I submitted a tax payment on my airplane. It was returned to me because I had owned the airplane before I moved to Florida. The same thing applies to automobile licenses. If you buy a new vehicle and move to Florida, you may have to pay tax. However, if you already have licensed the car in another state (and paid tax) You do not have to do it again.
Also, If you check the list of states where you pay the most tax, Florida is listed as # 39 out of 50. Not the best, but a long cry from the worst. Most states collect an average of 10 % when you include sales tax, along with all the other taxes.
