I am going to order 3 expensive ($9 each compared to $1 each for the Fat Bob's) Cessna gaskets for the plane. Good reason not to use non aircraft parts on an airplane. They aren't exactly the same (look the same, same size but not same density).
I must say, the lengths some people will go to to avoid having to pay for certified parts is unbelievable. Why not get the Ercoupe gaskets for $3.50 each? Or, if you use only 100LL, the older gaskets are on close-out for $1.00 each.
Last, a question. I have a loose plastic tube on my nose tank guage and wonder what kind of glue, cement or caulk to use to keep it on without dissolving from gasoline?
5 minute epoxy.
