I think it's important that our elected representatives get an idea
of how user fees actually affect the "little guy".
Not to put too fine a point on it, Senators and Congressmen and
-women don't care much about how user fees affect the little guy.
What they do care about is the pressure applied to them, positive or
negative, by lobbyists. Yeah, it stinks, but it's the way the system
works. The good news is that groups like AOPA and EAA, representing
large numbers of us little guys, can hold their own against the
knaves (Jack Abramoff) and cartels (the airlines and their "agent"
the Air Transport Association, a.k.a. ATA) who _never_ stop trying to
hijack the system that our taxes pay for.
By all means, make the effort to write, call, or email your
representatives. It doesn't hurt. But make sure you join and support
organizations that know how to make their presence felt "inside the Beltway".
