As I understand it, the factory was making incremental changes throughout production. 813 was a big changeover serial number but I hear of changes from time to time after that. Somewhere along the way, the second wind tank was added, the nose tank changed from 5 to 6 gallons, the wing tanks changed from 8 to 9 gallons, the trim system changed from the bungee system to an aerodynamic tab, etc. The D had all the changes including those things explicitly listed on the conversion from 415-C (or CD) to 415-D, i.e. larger landing gear orifices, large trim tab, stainless steel sheet over the fuel tank, etc. I can't list things that started specifically with the 415-D and were then included in the CD except the stainless steel panel. P.S. George - your question was quite Coupe technical and, if we were holding this discussion on the tech forum we'd have about 150 extra participants. We don't like to move discussions once they've begun but I'd encourage you to post appropriate questions to tech. There are guidelines in the forum descriptions. Ed
