In my opinion the Champ wallows all the time, on the ground and in the air. The J-3 Cub was a hoot to fly and land and much more fun. In the flying club that had these, the Champ was so unused that eventually it was removed from flying. But the Cub was always booked. So your experience was not just you, it was the airplane too.
