My experience with groups over the years has been that service work
is the key to success.

I pointed out a number of cosmetic defects on my new coup to my A&P.
His response was, "Did you buy it to fly or to show?" Fly was my
answer. Where to fly is the problem. Most small airport cafes have
closed over the years so destination flying is becoming more
problematic.

More fly-ins seems to be the answer and once you have hosted one, you
have the experience to host another. It will be easier the second
time. Along this line, an experienced host might be willing to go
help a new person set up a fly-in. The fly-in need not be a 4 day
affair. A one day, one or two hour lunch meeting with a speaker could
work. A topic might be Cleveland brakes or filling out a 337 or just
hamburgers on a grill with socializing. A report to Coupe Capers
would provide some needed material to fill the publication.

An occasional fly-in to show off the latest paint job and new
interior would be good for some pilots. Others, like myself, are
working on getting the plane to fly level and could only win a trophy
if it was awarded for the most dents in the leading edge of the
wings. (A previous owner got caught flying in a hail storm)

I strongly suspect that Coupe Capers will evolve into an on line
knowledge base with text and photos and a bulletin board for
announcements. An annual access fee would be required.
