Lee Browning, When someone uses the phrase "A leopard can't change his spots" it means that whatever mask or cover is applied to a person, they are still who they are underneath. Can a leopard change what he is by using makeup or paint to cover his markings? So in the simplest of terms skip meant what he said, that's his nature.
His statement was not acceptable. It was also unnecessary because the people who know him realize he didn't mean it and it didn't really matter.
