Rick,

Has you been denied your medical (no need to answer here)? If you have, you
cannot fly as a Sport Pilot. You will need to have your medical reinstated
after following the FAA procedure. If you have not had your medical denied,
and you have a valid drivers license and can self-self certify that you are
fit to fly, then you can fly as a Sport Pilot.

You should let your insurance company know you are now flying as a Sport
Pilot. Keep in mind that you must follow all of the restrictions of a Sport
Pilot and only fly a Light Sport Aircraft. The only two Ercoupes which are
legal models are the C and the CD (not C modified to a D).

If you have let your medical lapse, and it has not been denied, then going
back entails getting your medical approved.
