I've been doing that for years, Larry. And, Dave Winters, take it from me,
there's a lot less wear and tear on your landing gear and tires if you touch
down as slow as possible. I flare so I'm a foot or two over the runway and
keep moving the yoke back until it just settles down. My passengers don't even
know that the plane touched down. I have a reputation for making the smoothest
landings in central Wisconsin.

Hey guys, I've enjoyed reading this thread, pls let me
interject some info. I was at FLABOB ap recently, ran
into an old CFI,no (disrespect intended) he told me
that if you need to lose altitude quickly on approach.
Just stick your hand out the window, so i tried it and
sure enough i stuck my hand out the side of the AC, i
lost an additional 200 ft per min, and if you have a
passinger have him stick his hand out for aditional
drop in altitude. I wonder if i can convinence a DPE
that using my hand out the window qualifies as a 3rd
    control??????. Larry C. N3452H.
