Bart, when you saw Sam Walton in an Aero Commander in Tulsa, it was more
than a "few years back". Sam died in 1992 and wasn't very active for some
years prior to that. I was a vendor to WM during that timeframe. I saw the
company when Sam was in control and then later when the unethical greedy
thieves took over. Sam was a tough business person who prided himself for
selling products that were made in the USA. There was even a special little
USA flag logo that you could use if your product was made in America. Now I
could fill several screens with information about their unethical practices
in their dealings with their employees, their vendors, and their customers.
Customers who think they are getting a bargain when what they are really
getting from today's WM is cheap knockoff merchandise most of the time. I
have not shipped anything to them or been in one of their stores since 1995.
They try to always keep a vendor invoice open so that they have somewhere to
charge back (IE not pay). It took 183 days to get any money on the last
shipment that I sent them. They still owe me over $4,000 for an invalid
charge back. They charged me for the return of "Pillow Mirrors". I have no
idea what a Pillow Mirror is and never could get anyone at headquarters to
tell me what it is. I did finally get one accounts payable person to admit
that the UPC number for a pillow mirror was not mine but they still would
not reverse the charge back. I went to an attorney and was told that it
would cost me far more to go to court than I would ever collect. This is
only one example; I have experienced many more. Everyone really needs to
know how bad they are. It is my opinion that they are not tough business
people; they are unethical thieves.
