Folks, It seems that the Fly-In list is really not being used very well. It would be nice if people would write up some of their flying adventures (or even some boring flights!) and send them out. I like hearing about places I haven't been.
For my part, I've been flying about and can make a brief report: 1. Flew to Jefferson City, MO, a couple of Fridays ago. They have free lunch complete with ice cream from a local dairy, which is outstanding. Lots of good stories and friendly people. It's kind of nice to go to an FBO and find it full of people! Of course, I bought $55 worth of fuel, but I would have bought it anyway. I try to go with fairly empty tanks so I can give them some business. 2. Flew a few kids for International Young Eagles Day. We didn't have very many takers, perhaps because it fell on the 13th? I'm now up to 56 kids, and have my Young Eagles free cap to prove it. I'll be wearing it to Oshkosh just to let Harrison Ford know I care! Also, if you are active in Young Eagles and are going to Oshkosh, I recommend the Awards dinner on Wednesday night. A great dinner and a great program! 3. A month or so ago I had some friends from Germany visit. We got up a group flight to Sikeston so they could experience Lambert's Cafe - home of the throwed rolls. Then we flew them to my place in Arkansas for some trap shooting and pistol shooting. All very non-German activities. They loved flying in small airplanes! I guess I won't be bringing my guitar and banjo to Middletown - it was them or the wife, and I already paid for my wife's banquet dinner. Maybe next year... See you all in Middletown! Larry N99340
