The day after Christmas my wife and I plan on flying to Fredericksburg, TX, to
stay at the Hangar Hotel and enjoy the town. They have some great German
restaurants, a brewery (which owns the Hangar Hotel) and a terrific WW II
museum about the war in the Pacific. Fredericksburg is the hometown of Chester
Nimitz, so the main part of the museum is in the old Nimitz Hotel, which was
run by the admiral's parents.

Of course the weather will be important, since it is about 650 nm for us to get
there from Sullivan, MO, about 60 miles west of St. Louis. Our stops are Drake
Field in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Gainesville, Texas. We went during the
holidays last year and with the headwinds and the stops it took over 8 hours to
get there. I'm hoping for better winds this time. With no winds we should be
able to make it in 7 or less. We'll see - the winds pretty much howl across the
plains from the southwest, so I'm hoping for one of those special days...

We plan a trip up to Coopers BBQ in Llano while there.

Any Coupers in the Hill Country?
